WELCOME TO KELLY CROUCHER COUNSELLING
If you are here, it is likely you are seeking counselling for something in your life that is causing you distress, or you may be unable to stop the negative thoughts from playing over and over in your mind. "We cannot change anything until we accept it," - Carl Jung believed everyone strived to be the best version of themselves and as a counsellor, I wholeheartedly believe the same.
ABOUT MY APPROACH
I offer you a safe, confidential and empathic space to learn how to get back to you. I have a vast number of years' experience supporting families and individuals through their darkest times and am passionate about helping people gain a strong sense of their own identity. This can help to build confidence and self-esteem which then in turn increases your satisfaction in life.
Once you begin to talk, it can be a relief to tell someone how you are feeling. My approach is non-directive which means I will place you at the centre of the counselling process as I believe that everyone is the expert on themselves.
Personally, I found counselling enabled me to overcome obstacles in my life and believe in myself again. When you are able to talk in a trusting environment, without criticism or judgement, that's when I believe change can occur and it is a great honour for me to be a part of this process.
I'm passionate about helping people value and believe in themselves again, and this is one of the reasons I trained as a counsellor.
Counselling offers individual time with a qualified and experienced professional in a calm and supportive environment, to consider the issues that are creating challenge and distress. It is possible to gain a greater understanding of those issues and discover ways that lead to a positive change in your life.
I offer help for a variety of issues, these include:
Abuse
Domestic abuse, emotional abuse, bullying, anger management
Relationships
Lack of trust, communication issues, parenting issues
Family Issues
Dealing with divorce or separation, parenting style disagreement, continual arguing and bickering
Bereavement
Loneliness, depression, sense of loss, sleep problems, anxiety, suicidal feelings
Depression and Anxiety
Feeling sad, low self-esteem, negative thought patterns, poor concentration, anger, post natal depression
Work Issues
Stress, bullying, depression, not feeling good enough
WHAT IS COUNSELLING & WHAT TO EXPECT
There are many models of counselling, and I am a person-centred counsellor. This approach puts you at the centre of the counselling process and recognises that you are the expert on yourself, empowering you to find the answers within you.
I am able to include other ways of working that are most appropriate for each individual client and their issues. Our sessions will be led by you. We could reflect on what may or may not be working for you in your life by taking a look at feelings, sensations and thoughts.
It’s ok to not have the answers or understand the emotions you are experiencing. I offer a safe space for you to express yourself and will help you to make the changes necessary to move forward with your life. I know it can feel very daunting to come and see a counsellor for the first time, and it’s perfectly normal to feel nervous ( I know it was for me), but once you begin to talk, it can be a relief to tell someone how you are feeling.
The first session
Often the first session is via a telephone meeting or by e-mail, where I ask for basic details of contact number, address and full name.
Our first face to face session together will be an opportunity to meet for an assessment session, to discuss your needs and find the best way forward to work together.
